How We Are Different
With the rise of commercialization, even a priceless tradition like Mithila Paintings has been affected by mass produced fakes and imitations. We at ‘MITHILAsmita’ strive to preserve the original Mithila Paintings (also called Madhubani Paintings) in its several centuries old free hand style, by providing genuine artists from Mithilanchal a platform to showcase their work.
Responsible Business over Charity: We believe in responsible business over charity. While we aim to provide the traditional art forms of India an International platform, we do so while maintaining the authenticity of the art. We support multiple artisan clusters through our authentic Madhubani merchandise and impact communities at various levels.
Only Handmade: None of our products are factory made which renders uniqueness to each artwork. Further, all our workshops are real-time, live, interactive sessions which helps nurture student-teacher relationship, boosts interest in the art and ensures financial support to every individual engaged in the workshop.
Grading of art and art based merchandise: We grade art products and related services and link it to the payment of artists. This motivates our artists to outdo their own performance and ensures our services and products to be of world class quality.
UN WOMEN Award Winning: In the year 2020, MITHILAsmita became the proud recipient of a UN Women WEPs Award ( Generation Equality Champion – Marketplace Category) for working towards gender equality through integration of Madhubani Paintings, a traditional women’s hand-made art, into mainstream merchandise- Corporate Gifts, Museum Merchandise, Government Gifts and Lifestyle Products.
Authentic Madhubani Paintings for sustainability: We at ‘MITHILAsmita’ strive to preserve the original Mithila Paintings (also called Madhubani Paintings) in its several centuries old free hand style, by providing genuine artists from rural India a platform to showcase their work and skills. We have earned a distinct name for creating innovative sustainable models for art preservation and artisan livelihood.
